1989 First introduced to Aikido by science teacher of Narrabundah College, Canberra as a Thursday afternoon recreational activity.
1990 – 1991 began intensive training in Aikikai style Aikido with John Turnbull Sensei of the ANU Aikido club.
1992 – 1995 trained at former World HQ dojo of the Ki Society in Tokyo, under Tohei Sensei and his senior instructors, Taketoshi Kataoka, Yutaka Ohtsuka and William Reed. Also trained under Ishizaki Sensei in Meidaimae Dojo. Attained 1st kyu (brown belt) Aikido and Chukyu Toitsudo. Also practised Tea Ceremony during these years under Fusako Nakano, an eminent mistress of the art.
1995 – 1997 returned to Canberra to complete Bachelor of Asian Studies and Diploma of Education. Undertook two years of personal discipline and taught first year students Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido.
1998 moved with wife and young daughter to Cairns, Queensland to continue training under Roby Kessler Sensei, Chief Instructor of North Queensland Aikido Ki Society, and one of the top Ki Aikido instructors in Australia
1999 Earnt black belt and jokyu level of Mind and Body Unification
2005 Established Melbourne Ki Aikido Kai based in the western suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
2007 Official translator for President of Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido Kai, Shinichi Tohei Sensei’s web log,. Underwent further training in the depths of Ki and Aikido by Kataoka Sensei (8th dan)
2008 Graded to second degree black belt in Cairns, attended national seminar led by Iwade Sensei, Instructor of Tokyo headquarters
2009 Graded to Shoden level of Ki Development and recognised as Chief Instructor of Melbourne Ki Aikido Kai, became recognised as an official Lecturer and Examiner in the Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido Kai (formerly “Ki Society”)
