Ikkyo waza – move hips forward & backward, raising and lowering hands

Zengo waza – Ikkyo Waza to the front & back, pivoting

Katatori Ikkyo

 

6th kyu – Blue Belt

Ki Tests – as the preceeding requirements plus:

Extending one hand with mind and body unified – stand hanmi, raise one hand

Holding up both hands – “Banzai” cheer

Bending backward – one foot in front, lean back and look at ceiling

Bending forward – “stooping to tie your shoelaces”

 

Ki Exercises – as the preceeding requirements plus:

Happo waza – Ikkyo Waza in 8 directions – for blue belt & above

Tekubi Kosa waza – Swinging arms “Low cradle” / “High reading book”

Progression – Grading Criteria as for Seniors

Must be 10 years old to attain 5th kyu – Purple Belt White Stripe – in Aikido & Shokyu in Ki Development

4th kyu – Purple Belt

Must be 13 years old to attain 3rd kyu Brown Belt White Stripe– in Aikido & Chukyu in Ki Development

2nd kyu – Brown Belt

1st kyu – Black Belt White Stripe

Must be 15 years old to attain Shodan – 1st degree Black Belt – in Aikido & Jokyu in Ki Development
